Texas governor: We will build our own border wall

(AP) Texas Governor Greg Abbott says his state will immediately begin plans to build a barrier along its border with Mexico.

But questions remain on the total cost, timeline or specific location along the state’s 1,200 miles of border for the project already costing Texans a quarter of a billion dollars.

Governor Abbott signed letters Wednesday directing the hiring of a project manager, allocating $250 million for a down payment and requesting that the federal government return land obtained from border region private homeowners during the Trump administration to the original owners, which the state hopes to use for the barrier.
