A 10-hour hostage situation at a Texas synagogue ended with the death of hostage-taker Malik Faisal Akram, a British national. During the standoff, Akram demanded the release of Aafia Siddiqui.
Siddiqui earned the nickname ‘Lady Al Qaida’ in 2008, when she was arrested for being part of an alleged Al Qaida plot for a mass casualty attack on the United States.
Siddiqui was also convicted of shooting at U.S. service members during an interrogation, where she grabbed a military rifle from an army officer.
“I am going to kill all you Americans,” Siddiqui screamed, according to officers. “You are going to die by my blood.”
Siddiqui is serving an 86-year sentence at a federal prison in Ft. Worth, Texas.
During Saturday’s hostage situation, Siddiqui’s lawyer released a statement in defense of her client.
“I don’t want any violence in my name. Please,” Siddqui’s lawyer claims Siddiqui said previously.
