Harris aides say internal polling never had her ahead of Trump

Kamala Harris’ campaign team was surprised by public polls showing her ahead of Donald Trump, as their internal data indicated a much closer race. Senior adviser David Plouffe attributed the discrepancy to a “desire for change” and Trump’s gains among working-class voters. Despite a 2-point lead in late September, Harris ultimately lost the battleground states and the popular vote.
