Tennessee woman awarded nearly $700K after being fired for refusing COVID-19 vaccine requirement

A Tennessee woman who was fired from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) for refusing to comply with its COVID-19 vaccine requirement for employees has received a settlement worth nearly $700,000.

The employee had worked at the firm for 16 years before being fired. She refused the COVID-19 vaccine due to her religious beliefs.

Part of the lawsuit said that her day job did not require her to come into physical contact with any of her patients. The employee was working from home during the pandemic before BlueCross BlueShield created the vaccine requirement.
