Scientists sue academic journal that retracted studies citing dangers from the abortion pill

A group of 10 scientists is suing an academic journal for retracting studies on the abortion pill, claiming the retractions were politically motivated. The Charlotte Lozier Institute researchers alleged that Sage Publishing violated California contract law by withdrawing three studies earlier this year.
Dr. James Studnicki stated that Sage’s actions disregarded science principles and harmed the authors’ professional reputations. The 2019, 2021 and 2022 papers originally passed peer review for publication without issue, however reader concerns presented in February 2024 led the publisher to retract the studies.
