“LISTEN YOU TALK TOO MUCH. WE DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE SAYING.”
This is Onijah Andrew Robinson—an American woman eating at McDonald’s who went viral after making demands from the Pakistani government.
But what is a seemingly normal American doing in Pakistan making demands? You may—or may not have—seen this story on social media. A woman who flew halfway across the world for love, only to end up stranded.
33-year-old Robinson—a mother from New York—thought she had found the one… 19-year-old Nidal Ahmed Memon whom she met online. She traveled to Karachi, Pakistan, expecting to marry him, only to find out his parents did not approve of their relationship. When Memon abandoned her—and her visa expired—she made headlines for refusing to leave the country, camping out in his family’s vacated home, and making demands to the Pakistani government.
“I WANT 20K UPFRONT… 5K TO 10K TO STAY HERE EVERY WEEK.”
Her demands didn’t stop there. She later claimed she wanted $100,000, but the reason kept changing. In multiple videos circulating online, Robinson also claimed she was in Pakistan to obtain citizenship and invest in real estate. Then she made even bolder demands that left people confused, claiming she wanted to build up the country.
“I WANT THESE HOUSES BUILT UP CORRECTLY AND I WANT POOLS IN THE BACKYARD.” – Onijah Andrew Robinson
In other videos, Robinson started referring to herself as Onijah Ahmed and claimed that she and Memon were married. But a man who identified himself as her son—Jeremiah Robinson—spoke out, telling The Independent that his mother has bipolar disorder and that no marriage ever took place.
According to a local Pakistani media company, Robinson was taken to a government welfare center for assistance and that she later agreed to fly home. But as of now, her status remains unclear.
