Days later, Trace Cyrus returned to Instagram, claiming his father is now threatening legal action.

“Dad, my message was beyond loving. I could have been extremely honest about a lot more, but I don’t want to put your business out there like that,” Trace wrote. “For you to threaten me with legal action for wanting you to get help is a disgrace.”

Trace ended the post with a plea: “I will always love you, but I no longer respect you as a man. Everyone close to you is terrified to tell you how they really feel. I’m not. Get help.”

After a week of public family drama, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus is now reportedly seeking legal action against his son—Trace.

As we reported to you last week, Trace, along with Billy Ray’s ex-wife Firerose, spoke out following the shaky performance at President Donald Trump’s inaugural ball.

“MY ACHY BREAKY HEART…. HIGH NOTE THANK YOU GOOD NIGHT.”

Trace took to Instagram with a lengthy, emotional post—implying that his father is struggling with personal issues, possibly related to substance abuse, and pushing his family away in the process.

Now Trace is speaking out again, this time claiming Billy Ray is seeking legal action against him.

“Dad, my message was beyond loving. I could have been extremely honest about a lot more, but I don’t want to put your business out there like that. For you to threaten me with legal action for wanting you to get help is a disgrace.”

“I will always love you, but I no longer respect you as a man. Everyone close to you is terrified to tell you how they really feel. I’m not. Get help.”

While Billy Ray hasn’t directly addressed this situation, he is speaking out on YouTube, calling to “start the healing for us all.” In a repost of his 2009 music video for “Somebody Said a Prayer,” he writes that he gives thanks for the rain in California and says he’s praying for his “family, his children, sons and daughters, and their mother.”

His ex-wife, Firerose, also spoke out last week, saying much of what she dealt with in private with him during their short marriage is what people are seeing in public now.
