With the future of TikTok hanging in the balance, creators are scrambling to find their next digital fix – and this time, on Lemon8.
The app has been squeezing its way into the spotlight. If you’ve been hearing more about this mysterious app recently, you aren’t alone. Lemon8 is being touted as a fresh blend of social media apps – with TikTok’s short-form video and feeds similar to Pinterest or Instagram. It’s the sister app of TikTok and is similarly owned by China-based ByteDance.
It emphasizes aesthetics and personal storytelling with creativity – perfect for content categories like fashion, beauty, fitness, travel, and food – all while fostering a sense of community.
And with the possibility of a TikTok ban on January 19th looming, many creators are urging their followers to meet them over on Lemon8 as a backup plan.
But here’s the catch – since both Lemon8 and TikTok are owned by ByteDance, its future could also be in jeopardy if regulations around ByteDance come into play.
Another popular app at risk for social media creators is the video editing app CapCut – also owned by ByteDance. The all-in-one video editor and graphic design tool is packed with green screens, transitions, video templates, and more – making it user-friendly for many people. Its seamless integration with TikTok and other social media platforms allows you to easily export and upload your content.
President-elect Trump has urged the Supreme Court to intervene. For TikTok to avoid a ban, ByteDance must divest its U.S. operations. If that doesn’t happen, the ban could take effect January 19th.
