Dave Chappelle asked to write George Santos joke, here’s his response

Ray:

“Mr. Chappelle, you’re such a good comedian you sometimes write the punchline first and then the joke. What is the punchline and the joke for George Santos? “

Chappelle: 

“Oh man don’t get me started on that s**t.” 

DC native Dave Chappelle visited Capitol Hill Thursday night, 

just a couple hours before his show at the 20,000 seat Capital One Arena. 

Chappelle: “I’m from DC, so as you know government is one of the big town businesses, so a lot of the people I grew up with work on the Hill, so I hang out here sometimes when I’m in DC to catch up with old friends.”  

Ray: “Do you support anybody in particular or did you come here for a particular cause?” 

Chappelle: “Well I’ll tell you what I didn’t come to do – be on television. Just kidding.” 

But the comedian was there for more than work and friends, he also visited his alma mater- the Duke Ellington School of the Arts for a workshop about art as activism. 

Chappelle: “So one of the things I was doing was rallying some support for that. And some of the people I was visiting on the Hill are actually alumni of the school. So I just wanted to make sure people knew Duke Ellington is a public school but it’s also privately funded. Look up the Ellington Fund if you want to help some kids get a great education in the arts. “

And just in case you were wondering, when asked which one of his characters should be a member of congress – 

Chappelle: “Silky Johnson, from the player haters ball.”
