Shannon Longworth: Despite a campaign promise not to build *another foot* of border wall – it appears the Biden administration is moving forward with plans to rebuild *parts* of it.
Social justice groups, including the American Friends Service Committee expressed disappointment in the decision… saying the Homeland Security Secretary recently authorized dozens of projects along the southern border.
One of the plans reportedly involves building two new walls across the face of San Diego’s Friendship Park.
This would block access to the space people used for decades to meet loved ones separated by the border.
Federal officials- in a statement to local media outlets- called it a necessary move.
They say the current structure is at risk of falling apart.
Advocates say construction of the new barriers could start in a matter of weeks – but hope it’s not too late to change plans.
