Shannon Longworth: HE’S THE MOST FAMOUS DOG ON TWITTER THESE DAYS…..
BLASTING OFF TO THE MOON,
APPEARING AT THE MET GALA…
BUT HIS ULTIMATE CLAIM TO FAME – BEING THE FACE OF #DOGECOIN.
THAT’S BECAUSE THIS SHIBA INU DOG WITH ADORABLY BAD GRAMMAR…. APPARENTLY, HAS NO OFFICIAL OWNER.
LET ME EXPLAIN…
THE CREATORS’ NON-PROFIT—THE DOGECOIN FOUNDATION—DIDN’T FILE FOR TRADEMARK RIGHTS TO THE CRYPTOCURRENCY NAME UNTIL AUGUST OF THIS YEAR.
AND THEY HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO DO IT.
IT’S BEEN YEARS SINCE THE FOUNDATION WAS CREATED BACK IN 2014, AND IN THAT TIME, IT STOPPED BEING ACTIVE…ONLY JUST RECENTLY MAKING A COMEBACK.
BUT NOW THE THE DOGECOIN FOUNDATION MAY BE A DAY LATE – AND MANY DOLLARS SHORT
IF YOU CHECK OUT THE U.S. PATENT AND TRADEMARK OFFICE DATABASE, YOU CAN SEE THAT OTHERS HAVE APPLIED FOR THE TRADEMARK, TOO—BEFORE THE DOGECOIN FOUNDATION DID.
SO FAR, NO ONE’S GOTTEN THE RIGHTS IN THE U.S. OR THE E.U., SO WE’LL JUST HAVE TO SEE WHO ENDS UP WITH IT.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? SHOULD THE CREATORS GET THE TRADEMARK? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS.
