The McCoys, self-proclaimed bounty hunters who run the “Hatfield McCoy Museum Adventures” YouTube channel, followed a trail of vultures circling overhead and a strong odor in the woods near Exit 49, where Couch had abandoned his vehicle after the attack.
While livestreaming their search, Fred McCoy called out to his wife after spotting the remains, believed to be Couch’s, lying in the brush. The couple immediately notified nearby officers, who quickly arrived on the scene. The remains were described as deteriorated, and the clothing on the body matched Couch’s description.
Couch’s body is being transferred to the medical examiner for formal identification and to determine the cause of death. The couple will receive $25,000 in reward money — $15,000 from the Laurel County Crimestoppers and an additional $10,000 from a private donor — for their discovery.
