Wells Fargo ordered to pay $3.7 billion

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau said Wells Fargo’s illegal activity has impacted more than 16 million customers.

Harvey Weinstein convicted of rape

Harvey Weinstein has been convicted of rape in Los Angeles. The Hollywood producer, who faced a number of allegations during the #MeToo movement, was tried on seven charges and found guilty of three.

At 70 years old, Weinstein is currently serving out a 23-year prison sentence in New York, though it is being appealed.

“Given that there is now a possibility, although hopefully not a probability, that Mr. Weinstein’s convictions in New York could be reversed, the Los Angeles prosecution is very important. Even if the New York conviction remains intact, the women whom Harvey Weinstein victimized in Southern California deserved to have their day in court and I’m glad that they received that in this criminal case in Los Angeles,” attorney Gloria Allred said.

97-year-old convicted in 10,000 deaths

A 97-year-old woman has been convicted as an accessory to the murder of more than 10,500 people in German court.

As a teenager, Irmgard Furchner worked as a typist at a Nazi concentration camp called Stutthof. She worked there from 1943 to 1945, and she was alleged to help facilitate the killing of people imprisoned there.

When the trial began in September 2021, Furchner escaped from her retirement home and tried to skip it. However, the police found her. After her conviction, she was given a two-year suspended sentence.
