HOW OLD, IS TOO OLD TO BE A POLITICIAN?
THAT’S THE GROWING DISCUSSION AMONG AMERICANS AS THE AGE OF LAWMAKERS RISES.
HOUSE REPRESENTATIVE ANNIE KUSTER WANTS TO SET AN EXAMPLE AND OPEN THE DOOR FOR YOUNGER VOICES TO BE HEARD.
(It has been such a joy to advocate for my friends, family, neighbors, and state in that arena. “)
THE NEW HAMPSHIRE CONGRESSWOMAN SAYS SHE’S RETIRING AFTER REPRESENTING HER DISTRICT FOR MORE THAN DECADE.
THE AVERAGE AGE OF THIS YEAR’S CONGRESS WAS 58 FOR REPRESENTATIVES AND 64 FOR SENATORS
WITH SOME OF THE OLDEST LAWMAKERS PASSING 80 YEARS OLD
NOW AT 68 YEARS OLD, KUSTER SAYS ITS TIME TO LEAVE CAPITOL HILL AND ALLOW A DEMOCRAT ALMOST HALF HER AGE TO FILL HER SEAT.
(“it has been the greatest honor of my lifetime.”)
KUSTER SAYS SHE’S NOT THE GLADIATOR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY NEEDS TO GO UP AGAINST DONALD TRUMP AND THE REPUBLICAN LED CONGRESS.
SHE BELIEVES HER RETIREMENT CAN SERVE AS AN EXAMPLE FOR HER COLLEAGUES TO PUT THE NEXT GENERATION OF POLITICIANS IN CHARGE.
