Nikki Haley states the ‘need’ for Trump in the GOP. Loyal support or political strategy?

Former South Carolina governor and U.N. Ambassador, Nikki Haley, is back in the news after saying, “We need [Donald Trump] in the Republican Party. I don’t want us to go back to the days before Trump.” This statement about the former President comes only a few months after saying, “I don’t think he’s going to be in the picture…He’s fallen so far.”

It was in response to the capitol riot and President Trump’s future in the Republican party. What is the motivation behind her change of tune? Did the two have a reconciliation or is it part of Haley’s political strategy?
