‘Black Fraud Day’: Social media sees influx of Black Friday AI fraudsters

Richard Horne, chief executive of the National Cyber Security Center in the U.K., said scammers are targeting bargain hunters by using artificial intelligence and becoming more sophisticated. The shady tactics include fake ads online, often for clothing and tech products. These are generally social media ads with huge discounts.

Users should be on the look out for phony links that direct users to websites that look real but are really after their personal and financial information. Often, the web link is slightly different from the real one and consumers can have a hard time recognizing the difference.

Consumer experts also said be careful when buying gift cards online. Fake gift cards are now a favorite of scammers. Gift cards make it almost impossible for the victim to get their money back. Instead, experts advise shoppers to go directly to the company website or buy gift cards at the physical store.

Another favorite of thieves is the fake delivery alert that shows up in a person’s email. Once the person clicks on the link that is attached, the scammer steals their information.

The British security chief says customers across the pond lost the equivalent of $14.5 million to thieves during the holiday shopping season last year and his country saw 16,000 reports of online scams.

YOU SEE THE ADS FOR THE BEST SALES OF SEASON AND BLACK FRIDAY DEALS AIMED AT ATTRACTING THOSE DAY- AFTER THANKSGIVING SHOPPERS. BUT CYBER SECURITY EXPERTS ARE SOUNDING THE ALARM THAT SCAMMERS ARE NOW USING AI TO TURN IT INTO SO-CALLED “ BLACK FRAUD DAY”
RICHARD HORNE IS THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF THE NATIONAL CYBER SECURITY CENTER IN GREAT BRITAIN. HE SAYS SCAMMERS ARE TARGETING BARGAIN HUNTERS BY USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND BECOMING MORE SOPHISTICATED.
AMONG THE SHADY TACTICS : FAKE ADS ON-LINE, OFTEN FOR CLOTHING AND TECH PRODUCTS. THESE ARE GENERALLY SOCIAL MEDIA ADS WITH HUGE DISCOUNTS.
ALSO, PHONY LINKS THAT DIRECT YOU TO WEBSITES THAT LOOK REAL BUT ARE REALLY AFTER YOUR PERSONAL AND FINANCIAL INFORMATION. OFTEN THE WEB LINK IS SLIGHTLY OFF FROM THE REAL ONE AND THE CONSUMER DOES NOT NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE.
ALSO, BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN BUYING GIFT CARDS ON-LINE.
EXPERTS ADVISE YOU AVOID IT ALTOGETHER IF POSSIBLE. FAKE GIFT CARDS ARE NOW A FAVORITE OF SCAMMERS BECAUSE ITS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE VICTIM TO GET THEIR MONEY BACK. INSTEAD, SHOPPERS SHOULD GO DIRECTLY TO THE COMPANY WEBSITE OF THE INTENDED PURCHASE OR BUY GIFT CARDS AT THE STORE.
BY NOW, ALL OF US HAVE RECEIVED A FAKE DELIVERY ALERT AT SOME POINT IN OUR E-MAIL. IN THIS CASE, THE VICTIM GETS AN E-MAIL SAYING A DELIVERY FOR THEM IS STUCK AT THE WAREHOUSE. BUT ONCE YOU CLICK THE LINK THAT’S ATTACHED, THE SCAMMER STEALS YOUR INFORMATION. THIS CRIME IS BOOMING, SO HAVE YOUR GUARD UP ABOUT DELIVERY NOTICES IN YOUR IN-BOX.

Pizza Hut is collaborating with Irvine’s Just Beyond Paradise Winery, a family-owned vineyard in Kansas, to launch a new wine in time for the holidays. The pizza chain is hoping for a holiday turnaround after reporting a decline in sales last quarter.

The company said in a press release on Tuesday, Nov. 19, this limited-edition tomato wine “captures the essence of your favorite slice in a sip.”

According to the winery and the Hut, the wine gives off an aromatic blend of fresh herbs and spices including basil and oregano, a whisper of garlic, with notes of sundried tomatoes and a subtle hint of toasted oak.

Pizza Hut’s Director of Advertising Elyse Slayton said the company took the classic pairing of pizza and red wine and “flipped it on its head.” While the wine comes from tomatoes, Pizza Hut said it delivers a taste more reminiscent of a white wine when chilled.

You can purchase a bottle for $25 at the winery’s website, but there is a minimum order of two. You can also buy a gift box for $60. The gift box offers one bottle of wine, two wine glasses and a wine opener.

If you’re not feeling adventurous for “Pizza Wine,” Pizza Hut’s also bringing back its Triple Threat Box for the holidays. The combo package features two medium one-topping pizzas, breadsticks, and a dessert wrapped in festive box.

But Pizza Hut isn’t done there for its holiday offerings. For gamers trying to reheat their piece of holiday pie, pizza pie that is, the company’s Canada division has unveiled the “Pizzawrmr.”

It’s a 3D-printed box that sits atop your PlayStation 5 console to warm up your pizza. All the files you need to make one are available to download.

Any way you slice it, Pizza Hut is looking to bring up profits as it tries to find a place at the holiday table this year.

Jones owes nearly $1.5 billion to those families after falsely claiming the 2012 school shooting was a hoax.

In the lawsuit, Jones called The Onion’s bid a “flagrantly non-compliant frankenstein bid,” asking to halt the sale.

The Onion’s parent company Global Tetrahedron, was named the winning bidder after offering $1.75 million in cash and a credit from the Connecticut families. The families offered to forgo 100% of their portion of the bid to support the effort.

First United Americans Companies, which is affiliated with Jones and operates his online supplements store, offered a competing bid of $3.5 million.

The Onion said its bid should be closer to $7 million considering the families’ credit. However, Jones’ attorneys argue that figure doesn’t make sense.

Jones asked his supporters to purchase items from his online merchandise store to gain financial support during his legal fight.

“There’s not enough funds coming in to really win hard, you want to win, back those that have victory, back those that have a 30 plus year history,” Jones said in a video posted to X Tuesday, Nov. 19. “I want to thank you all for your support but to the idiots out there – why’s he asking for money? Because I’m the tip of the spear.”

The next hearing on the case is scheduled for Nov. 25.

ALEX JONES IS NOW TAKING LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THE PROPOSED SALE OF HIS WEBSITE INFO WARS TO SATIRICAL NEWS OUTLET “THE ONION”. FILING A LAWSUIT THIS WEEK.

I’ll never back down I’ll never give in .. I can’t be threatened.

JONES IS SUING A COURT-APPOINTED BANKRUPTCY TRUSTEE AND FAMILIES OF SOME SANDY HOOK VICTIMS.

THIS COMES AFTER THE PARENT COMPANY OF INFOWARS WAS AUCTIONED OFF LAST WEEK.

FAMILIES OF SANDY HOOK VICTIMS ARE BACKING THE DEAL, WHICH WOULD TURN INFOWARS INTO A PARODY SITE FOCUSED ON FAR-RIGHT CONSPIRACY THEORIES.

JONES OWES NEARLY 1-POINT-5 BILLION DOLLARS TO THOSE FAMILIES AFTER FALSELY CLAIMING THE 2012 SCHOOL SHOOTING WAS A HOAX.

IN THE LAWSUIT, JONES CALLS THE ONION’S BID A QUOTE – “FLAGRANTLY NON-COMPLIANT FRANKENSTEIN BID” ASKING A JUDGE TO HALT THE SALE.

THE ONION’S PARENT COMPANY … GLOBAL TETRAHEDRON, WAS NAMED THE WINNING BIDDER AFTER OFFERING 1-POINT-75 MILLION IN CASH ALONG WITH A “CREDIT” FROM THE CONNECTICUT FAMILIES, WHO OFFERED TO FORGO 100 PERCENT OF THEIR PORTION OF THE BID TO SUPPORT THE EFFORT.

FIRST UNITED AMERICANS COMPANIES – WHICH IS AFFILIATED WITH JONES AND OPERATES HIS ONLINE SUPPLEMENTS STORE – OFFERED A COMPETING BID OF 3-POINT-5 MILLION DOLLARS.

THE ONION SAYS THEIR BID SHOULD BE CLOSER TO 7 MILLION CONSIDERING THE FAMILIES CREDIT, BUT JONES’ ATTORNEYS ARGUE THAT FIGURE DOESN’T MAKE SENSE.

JONES IS NOW ASKING HIS SUPPORTERS TO PURCHASE ITEMS FROM HIS ONLINE MERCHANDISE STORE … IN AN EFFORT TO GAIN FINANCIAL SUPPORT DURING HIS LEGAL FIGHT.

there’s not enough funds coming in to really win hard … you wanna win .. back those that have victory … back those that have a 30 plus year history … i wanna thank you all for your support but to the idiots out there … why’s he asking for money … because I’m the tip of the spear.

City lawmakers passed the legislation unanimously. It prohibits the use of city resources and police officers for immigration enforcement. It also bars city departments from sharing information on undocumented individuals with federal authorities.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is expected to sign the legislation. She and City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto proposed fast-tracking protections for undocumented immigrants living in southern California.

“This moment demands urgency,” Bass said in a statement. “Immigrant protections make our communities stronger and our city better.”

On the campaign trail, Trump promised to crack down on illegal immigration. He appointed former Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan to be his “border czar.”

Homan has said the administration will double the number of agents to get the job done even if a sanctuary city refuses to cooperate with the Trump agenda.

“I’ve seen some of these Democratic governors who say they’re going to stand in the way, they’re gonna make it hard for us,” Homan said in an appearance on Fox News. “Well a suggestion. If you’re not going to help us, get the hell out of the way because we’re gonna do it.”

On Monday, Nov. 18, Trump said he’s preparing to declare a national emergency when he’s sworn in. That would allow him to use military assets to carry out his mass deportation plan.

Trump wants Senate to stop confirming Biden judges

Ray Bogan Political Correspondent

President-elect Donald Trump said the Senate should stop confirming President Joe Biden’s judicial nominees to lifetime positions on the federal bench. Trump posted the request on Truth Social.

“The Democrats are trying to stack the Courts with Radical Left Judges on their way out the door,” he wrote.

Votes on judges are scheduled by Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. The Judiciary Committee sends nominees to the floor. As long as Democrats have a simple majority, they can confirm as many judges as time allows between now and Jan. 2. According to the Judicial Conference, there are 17 pending nominations, a number that remains fluid. In addition, there are a few more still in committee.

Judiciary Committee member Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, posted a response to Trump’s post: “Senate Republicans need to do everything we can to stop the confirmation of horrible Biden-appointed judges.”

Republicans delayed confirmations the night of Monday, Nov. 18, keeping the Senate in session until midnight. But the procedural moves did not bring the process to a total halt.

Here’s how Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., described what happened.

“Chuck Schumer filed on three judicial nominees on Thursday, then he came back in yesterday with no notice and said, actually, I want to do, whatever, eight or nine more and jam them through the Senate,” Hawley said. “That’s not our normal process. So, hey, you actually have to have consent to go from the legislative calendar to the executive calendar in order to file these nominees. So what you saw is Republicans saying, ‘Well, we’re not just going to give you blanket consent.’”

“Last night did nothing for nobody,” Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., said. “Just kept a bunch of Senators up till midnight. It was a ridiculous display. Donald Trump had put a record number of judges when he was here. We challenged some, we did some, but we didn’t do things like that.”

So far the Senate has confirmed 218 of Biden’s nominees. Trump had 234 confirmations during his first term. Democrats said they will do everything they can to tie or surpass him.

The message didn’t mention Russia by name. However, the Kremlin’s press secretary is quoted as saying the embassy closure is “about the course of the special military operation,” which is Russia’s formal term for its war with Ukraine.

This latest news comes after Russia accused Ukraine of firing American-made long-range missiles into Russia on Tuesday, Nov. 19. Russia said it intercepted five and destroyed a sixth.

Neither Ukraine nor the United States has commented on that Russian claim. However, the Russian foreign minister called the apparent attack an escalation by the West.

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin lowered the threshold for the use of nuclear weapons. He said the Kremlin may use nuclear weapons in the event of a critical threat to its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as ally Belarus.

All of this comes after the Biden administration permitted Ukraine to begin using long-range missiles for strikes on Russia late last weekend.

New drone using hydrogen to win the fight: Weapon of the Week

Listen
Share

Spend enough time on the floor of a defense exposition, and you’ll find just about any kind of drone you can imagine. But recently, the Weapons and Warfare team came across something they hadn’t seen before, and that’s why HevenDrones is the weapon of the week.

To look at HevenDrones’ newest project, the H2D250, one might not think it’s all that different from dozens of other similar-looking models vying for a piece of the market. However, the company’s founder said it’s what’s under the hood that makes it something new to be reckoned with.

“We said we have to solve the energy piece. And when we’re looking for the ideal energy source for drones, we got the hydrogen. So it’s really one long story, which is, how can drones do more than just be flying robots, heavy lift, great. Getting to long endurance is what led us to hydrogen,” Ben Levinson, founder and CEO of HevenDrones, said.

Download the SAN app today to stay up-to-date with Unbiased. Straight Facts™.

Point phone camera here

So why hydrogen? Levinson says it offers three to five times the energy density of traditional batteries, extending flight time by hours. It’s ideal for places like the Indo-Pacific region.

“So it’s highly pressurized hydrogen that is sitting in a tank, small amount, about a pound of hydrogen. That’s it. And then we have a fuel cell. The fuel cell is taking that hydrogen and slowly making that into electricity. So we’re kind of creating, it’s like a power plant in the sky. So that’s how it works. So we’re going from again 30 minutes to about three hours, and our new systems, that actually include a wing, can already achieve 10 hours of flight time,” Levinson explained.

Operating in austere conditions, such as a small island in the Pacific, presents a host of challenges. Levinson said the drones don’t need much in the way of infrastructure. In fact, they don’t even need to add fuel to the supply chain.

“We actually have portable hydrogen refueling stations. So trailer-based, imagine your pickup truck or your Hummer, and there’s solar panels on the roof. So wherever you are in the world, once you have this station, you’re just creating your hydrogen. You’re using it. So if you’re on an island or wherever you are, there’s no need to get more fuel into the country. You just create your hydrogen with thin air every single day,” Levinson said.

The ultimate question is: What can HevenDrones provide to the warfighter? Levinson says they are focused on three aspects: logistics, a launch platform for other drones or ground robots and finally, delivering munitions.

“I think we as the U.S. and Israel, for example, realized over the past year after Oct. 7, that without its safety and security, our way of life, everything else is irrelevant. I think that we all have to work together again, as individuals, as companies, etc., to make sure that we as the U.S., we as the Western world, have these strengths and have the capability to continue to live our lives in the way of freedom that we all believe in,” Levinson emphasized.

At the moment, HevenDrones is still working with the Department of Defense and its various branches to secure a deal with U.S. forces. And if they are looking for proof of performance, they don’t have to look too far.

“Our drones are the leading drones working heavy lift in Israel today. We have a lot of experience on the ground, actually scaling up, and we’re just kind of getting ahead of the curve and what we’re expecting for the conflicts in the years and decades to come,” Levinson said.

But isn’t a hydrogen-powered drone super dangerous if it crashes or gets shot? Well, we asked Levinson says that while it may seem counterintuitive, they’ve done the testing to show hydrogen batteries are as safe, or safer, than traditional electric batteries.

SO WHY HYDROGEN? LEVINSON SAYS IT OFFERS THREE TO FIVE TIMES THE ENERGY DENSITY OF TRADITIONAL BATTERIES, EXTENDING FLIGHT TIME BY HOURS. IDEAL FOR PLACES LIKE THE INDO-PACIFIC REGION.

[Ben Levinson]

So it’s highly pressurized hydrogen that is sitting in a tank, small amount, about a pound of hydrogen. That’s it. And then we have a fuel cell. The fuel cell is taking that hydrogen and slowly making that into electricity. So we’re kind of creating, it’s like a power plant in the sky. So that’s how it works. So we’re going from again 30 minutes to about three hours, and our new systems, that actually include a wing, can already achieve 10 hours of flight time.”

[RYAN]

OF COURSE, OPERATING IN AUSTERE CONDITIONS, THINK A SMALL ISLAND SOMEWHERE IN THE PACIFIC, PRESENTS A HOST OF CHALLENGES. LEVINSON SAYS THEIR DRONES DON’T NEED MUCH IN THE WAY OF INFRASTRUCTURE. IN FACT THEY DON’T EVEN NEED TO ADD FUEL TO THE SUPPLY CHAIN.

[Ben Levinson]

We actually have portable hydrogen refueling stations. So trailer-based, imagine your pickup truck or your, you know, your Hummer, and there’s solar panels on the roof. So wherever you are in the world, once you have this station, you’re just creating your hydrogen. You’re using it. So if you’re an island or every wherever you are, there’s no need to get more fuel or into the country. You just created your hydrogen with thin air every single day,”

[RYAN]

OF COURSE THE ULTIMATE QUESTION IS, WHAT CAN HEVEN’S DRONES PROVIDE TO THE WARFIGHTER. LEVINSON SAYS THEY ARE FOCUSED ON THREE ASPECTS, LOGISTICS, A LAUNCH PLATFORM FOR OTHER DRONES OR GROUND ROBOTS, AND FINALLY, DELIVERING MUNITIONS.

[Ben Levinson]

I think we as the US and Israel, for example, realized over the past year after October 7th, that without its safety and security, our way of life, everything else is irrelevant. I think that we all have to work together again, as, you know, as individuals, right, as companies, etc, to make sure that, you know, we as the US, we as the Western world, have these strengths and have the capability to continue to live our lives in the way of freedom that we all believe in.”

[RYAN]

AT THE MOMENT, HEVENDRONES IS STILL WORKING WITH THE DOD AND ITS VARIOUS BRANCHES TO SECURE A DEAL WITH U.S. FORCES.  AND IF THEY ARE LOOKING FOR PROOF OF PERFORMANCE, THEY DON’T HAVE TO LOOK TOO FAR.

[Ben Levinson]

Our drones are the leading drones working heavy lift in Israel today. Give a lot of experience on the ground, actually scaling up, and we’re just kind of getting ahead of the curve and what we’re expecting for the conflicts in the years and decades to come.”

[RYAN]

IF YOU’RE LIKE ME–AND YOU’RE THINKING THIS ALL SOUNDS GREAT BUT ISN’T A HYDROGEN-POWERED DRONE SUPER DANGEROUS IF IT CRASHES OR GET’S SHOT ? WELL, WE ASKED LEVINSON THAT EXACT QUESTION–AND HE SAYS WHILE IT MAY SEEM COUNTER-INTUITIVE–THEY’VE DONE THE TESTING TO SHOW HYDROGEN BATTERIES ARE AS SAFE–OR SAFER–THAN TRADITIONAL ELECTRIC BATTERIES.

Pilot shortage prompts US Air Force to target flexibility in filling roles

From the fictional characters like Ice Man and Maverick in “Top Gun” to real-life heroes such as Chuck Yeager and Neil Armstrong in “The Right Stuff,” the image of a fighter pilot from any era remains iconic. For as long as aircraft have ruled the skies, men and women have climbed into cockpits to answer their country’s call.

However, as each branch of the Department of Defense continues to modernize for future conflicts, they face a significant problem of not having enough pilots to meet the needs of today’s military. The U.S. Air Force is at the forefront of this issue.

At this year’s Air, Space and Cyber Conference, Air Force leadership detailed how the service is short by nearly 2,000 pilots, more than 1,100 of whom are fighter pilots.

“Suffice it to say, it remains a chronic issue, as you have highlighted, and one that these gentlemen, I’m sure will have great solutions how we’re going to fix it. It’s all easy. We know it’s not. It’s very complex, and frankly, takes input from across the force to understand best how we do what the nation requires of us as an Air Force,” Gen. Jeffrey L. Harrigian, USAF (Ret.), vice president of strategic campaigns at Lockheed Martin said.

One way the Air Force has tried to tackle the problem is by changing how new pilots are trained and assigned to the Air Force’s wide array of aircraft and their various missions. The goal is to reduce the time it takes to move candidates through the pipeline.

“Today, the average pilot training officer is going to go to pilot training, from a commission to pilot or being mission qualified in their platform. 528 days, give or take if you’re going to mobility, it’s about 400 and some, about 430 days and it, you know, that’s way too long. We need to get airmen on their mission, in their platform, in their combat squadron,” Lt. Gen. Brian Robinson, commander of the Air Education and Training Command, said.

Robinson also pointed to a program that allows candidates already possessing a pilot’s license and looking to fly refuelers or cargo aircraft the chance to start in the T-1 Jayhawk, a medium-range, twin-engine jet, rather than the traditional route of starting in the T-6. This can cut months off time spent in the pipeline and get pilots to their first assignment sooner.

“We’ve had 16 folks go through the KC-135 portion, all have passed their check rides. Q1, couple, not on the first time through, but that’s normal. And the C-130J, we’ve had 22 go through, and again, all at low risk have met on time and passed their check rides,” Robinson said.

For those set on flying fighters or bombers, they still start on the T-6 before moving onto the T-38. Once pilots graduate from that phase, they typically move onto platforms like the F-16, F-35 and B-1. While the Air Force tries to pair graduates with their aircraft of choice, they now ask airmen to broaden the scope of what they are willing to fly, such as airlift or tankers.

“It doesn’t mean that if you go to T-38 you’re not going to get a fighter. It means that you might not get a fighter. One benefit to the member is that you continue to move through your pipeline more quickly, and you get to a flight line and an OP squadron sooner than you would have going another direction, we’re looking at ways to ensure that there’s still some element of choice and that merit matters, and so how well you do certainly will matter in some of these selections. But we also need to be aware that this is good for the Air Force, and we have to fight against those things that are hurting this pilot shortage and contributing to it, and find ways to overcome it,” Lt. Gen. Adrian Spain, deputy chief of staff for operations, stated.

Another avenue the Air Force is pursuing is making a concerted effort to keep pilots looking to leave active duty aware of the opportunities available in the guard and reserve components.

“Everybody’s life changes as you move through service. And you start a business, you have kids, you know, family doesn’t want to move around, whatever the reason is, the reserve component offers a position for you no matter what phase of life you’re in,” Maj. Gen. Randal Efferson, acting commander of the ANG Readiness Center, shared.

“We need this symbiotic relationship. It’s not active duty versus Reserve component, or Reserve component versus active duty. We want the right balance there. And you know my message, I really hope you stay on active duty, but if you can’t, I really need you to go to the Reserve component so that I have access to your skills when the fight comes, because that’s really all I give a crap about to be real honest with you, right? When the fight comes, will we be ready, and will I have the forces to go, to go implement our nation’s interests with kinetic air power,” Spain added.

At this point, one might think, “What if we just had fewer manned aircraft and relied more on unmanned platforms?” To that point, retired Air Force Gen. Jeffrey Harrigian offered this counter.

“As we talk, as you know, great power competition, I’d argue numbers are important, and I don’t think you guys would argue with me. And so how we do that going forward? And we can talk about mixes of man and unmanned, but people matter. War. Fighting is about humans, and humans are required to fly airplanes, and so we got to think our way through that,” Harrigian said.

With a cumulative 12 stars and decades of experience, the four airmen all agreed there is no one quick fix to this ongoing problem. They insisted it will take a holistic approach to reach recruiting, training and retention goals the Air Force has been chasing for years.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
HELLO AND WELCOME TO ANOTHER EDITION OF ‘WEAPONS AND WARFARE’. FOR STRAIGHT ARROW NEWS, I’M YOUR HOST RYAN ROBERTSON. JUST AHEAD ON THIS WEEK’S EPISODE…

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
FOR DECADES, THE AIR FORCE HAS BEEN BATTLING AGAINST A PROBLEM YOU MIGHT NOT EXPECT: A SHORTAGE OF PILOTS TO CARRY OUT THEIR WIDE ARRAY OF MISSIONS. AT THIS YEAR’S AIR, SPACE AND CYBER CONFERENCE, SEVERAL SENIOR MEMBERS OF AIR FORCE LEADERSHIP GATHERED TO TALK ABOUT WHAT THEY’RE DOING TO CHANGE THAT.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
PLUS, YOU’VE PROBABLY HEARD OF HYDROGEN-POWERED VEHICLES, BUT HOW ABOUT HYDROGEN-POWERED DRONES? IN OUR WEAPON OF THE WEEK, WE VISIT WITH ONE STARTUP THAT’S TRYING TO BRING THEM TO THE BATTLESPACE. BUT FIRST, HERE’S SOME HEADLINES YOU MAY HAVE MISSED.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
THIS SUMMER NORAD WAS BUSY KEEPING AN EYE ON THINGS WHEN THEY SPOTTED AND TRACKED TWO RUSSIAN T-U-95s AND TWO CHINESE H-6 BOMBERS FLYING IN THE ALASKA AIR DEFENSE IDENTIFICATION ZONE. THAT’S WHEN NORAD SCRAMBLED FIGHTER JETS FROM THE U.S. AND CANADA TO INTERCEPT THEM.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
AN AIR DEFENSE IDENTIFICATION ZONE IS WHERE SOVEREIGN AIRSPACE ENDS, AND INTERNATIONAL AIRSPACE BEGINS. IT’S A DESIGNATED AREA WHERE ALL AIRCRAFT NEED TO BE IDENTIFIED FOR NATIONAL SECURITY REASONS.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
WHILE THEIR PRESENCE RAISED EYEBROWS, IT WASN’T CONSIDERED A THREAT AS BOTH THE RUSSIANS AND CHINESE STAYED IN INTERNATIONAL AIRSPACE AND DIDN’T CROSS INTO U.S. OR CANADIAN TERRITORY. BUT IT IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF AMERICA’S ADVERSARIES WILLING TO TEST THE BOUNDARIES OF WHAT THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
IN EARLY NOVEMBER, U.S. CENTRAL COMMAND EXECUTED A SERIES OF AIRSTRIKES ON MULTIPLE HOUTHI WEAPONS STORAGE FACILITIES IN YEMEN IN RESPONSE TO TWO UNSUCCESSFUL ATTACKS ON U.S. NAVY WARSHIPS WITH MULTIPLE DRONES AND MISSILES AS THEY WERE TRAVELING THROUGH THE BAB EL-MANDEB STRAIT.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
THE DEFENSE DEPARTMENT SAYS THE IRANIAN-BACKED HOUTHIS LAUNCHED AT LEAST EIGHT DRONES, FIVE ANTI-SHIP BALLISTIC MISSILES AND THREE ANTI-SHIP CRUISE MISSILES AT THE U-S-S STOCKDALE AND THE U-S-S SPRUANCE, BOTH NAVY DESTROYERS. PENTAGON PRESS SECRETARY MAJOR GENERAL PAT RYDER SAID THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE SHIPS, AND NO ONE WAS INJURED.

[MAJOR GENERAL PAT RYDER]
“U.S. CENTCOM forces conducted strikes yesterday against nine targets in two locations associated with Iranian groups in Syria in response to several attacks on U.S. personnel in Syria over a 24 hour period. These strikes will degrade the Iranian-backed group’s ability to plan and launch future attacks on U.S. and coalition forces who are in the region to conduct…defeat ISIS operations.”

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
THE HOUTHIS HAVE INSISTED THAT THE ATTACKS WILL CONTINUE AS LONG AS THE WARS AGAINST HAMAS AND HEZBOLLAH CONTINUE.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
AT THE SAME TIME, A U.N. PANEL OF EXPERTS IS ALLEGING THE HOUTHIS MAY BE SHAKING DOWN SOME SHIPPERS IN THE AREA FOR ABOUT $180 MILLION A MONTH FOR SAFE PASSAGE.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
A REMARKABLE AT-SEA RESCUE HAPPENED OVER VETERAN’S DAY WEEKEND, AND IT WAS ALL CAUGHT ON CAMERA.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
ON NOVEMBER 8TH, A CREW FROM THE 129TH RESCUE WING OF THE CALIFORNIA AIR NATIONAL GUARD ANSWERED AN URGENT CALL FOR MEDICAL EVACUATION ABOUT 400 MILES OFF THE COAST OF SAN DIEGO. A FISHERMAN ABOARD A CHARTERED VESSEL BEGAN SHOWING STROKE-LIKE SYMPTOMS THAT ESCALATED INTO A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
THE CREW OF AN H-H-60-G PAVE HAWK RESCUE HELICOPTER WAS ABLE TO LIFT THE FISHERMAN OFF THE BOAT AND GET HIM LIFE-SAVING CARE.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
THE 79-YEAR-OLD FISHERMAN AND AIR FORCE VETERAN IS NOW RECOVERING AT A SAN DIEGO AREA HOSPITAL.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
FROM THE FICTIONAL, THINK ICE MAN AND MAVERICK IN TOP GUN, TO THE REAL-LIFE, CHUCK YEAGER AND NEIL ARMSTRONG IN THE RIGHT STUFF, THE IMAGE OF A FIGHTER PILOT, FROM ANY ERA, IS AN ICONIC ONE.

SPEND ENOUGH TIME ON THE FLOOR OF A DEFENSE EXPOSITION, AND YOU’LL FIND JUST ABOUT ANY KIND OF DRONE YOU CAN IMAGINE. BUT RECENTLY, WE CAME ACROSS SOMETHING WE HADN’T SEEN BEFORE.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
AND THAT’S WHY HEVENDRONES ARE OUR WEAPON OF THE WEEK.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
TO LOOK AT HEVENDRONES’ NEWEST PROJECT, THE H2-D-250, YOU MIGHT NOT THINK IT’S ALL THAT DIFFERENT FROM DOZENS OF OTHER SIMILAR-LOOKING MODELS LOOKING TO CLAIM A PIECE OF THE MARKETSPACE.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
TIME NOW FOR COMMS CHECK, AND WE THOUGHT WE’D CHECK IN WITH YOU, OUR VIEWERS, TO SEE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT SOME OF OUR LATEST STORIES.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
REGARDING OUR STORY ON THE ARMY’S EFFORTS TO MODERNIZE AND STAY AHEAD OF WOULD-BE ADVERSARIES. JARED RICHARDS WRITES, “I’m pretty sure Russia is the most battle-hardened. I am an American and I had to wake up to this fact.”

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
That’s a thought-provoking comment, Jared. It’s true that Russia has extensive combat experience, which certainly influences global military dynamics. It’s crucial for the U.S. to adapt and innovate to maintain its edge.

[RYAN ROBERTSON]
NEXT UP, OUR STORY ON THE USS SEAWOLF, ONE OF AMERICA’S NUCLEAR-POWERED FAST ATTACK SUBMARINES, MAKING A VERY VISIBLE APPEARANCE IN TOKYO BAY RECENTLY, PROMPTED ONE VIEWER TO WRITE, “I don’t think China cares anymore.”

That’s an interesting perspective! The presence of the Seawolf certainly sends a message, but it’s clear that geopolitical tensions are complex. It’s essential to keep an eye on how these developments unfold.

ALRIGHT FOLKS!

THAT’S GOING TO JUST ABOUT DO IT FOR US ON THIS EDITION OF WEAPONS AND WARFARE.

BEFORE WE SAY GOODBYE THOUGH– I WANT TO SPEND A FEW MOMENTS ON A TOPIC THAT JUST MIGHT HAVE THE MOST BIPARTISAN SUPPORT IN CONGRESS RIGHT NOW–DISCLOSURE.

SPECIFICALLY–DISCLOSING WHAT SOME IN THE GOVERNMENT–OR PRIVATE SECTOR–KNOW ABOUT UNIDENTIFIED ANOMALOUS PHENOMENON–OR UAP

THAT’S HOW THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY NOW REFERS TO WHAT WE ALL USED TO CALL UFOS… BUT THAT MONIKER DOESN’T REALLY WORK ANYMORE–BECAUSE THE UNIDENTIFIED OBJECTS DON’T JUST FLY–THEY ALSO GO UNDER WATER.

NOW, BEFORE YOU TUNE OUT OR CALL ME A CRACKPOT–CONSIDER THIS–

IN THE LAST YEAR–THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HELD TWO HEARINGS ON THE SUBJECT OF UAPS. THE WITNESS LISTS INCLUDED CURRENT AND FORMER MEMBERS OF GOVERNMENT, FORMER HIGH-RANKING NASA OFFICIALS, AND RETIRED MILITARY OFFICERS–INCLUDING AVIATORS AND AN ADMIRAL WHO SPENT TIME ON SUBMARINES.

THEY WERE ALL UNDER OATH …AND THEY ALL SAID THERE ARE VEHICLES OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN OPERATING IN OUR ATMOSPHERE, AND IN OUR OCEANS.

VEHICLES WHICH DEFY THE KNOWN LAWS OF PHYSICS–AND DISPLAY A LEVEL OF TECHNOLOGY ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE MORE ADVANCED THAN ANYTHING DEVELOPED BY HUMANS ON THIS PLANET–AT LEAST UP TO THIS POINT IN OUR HISTORY.

NOT ONLY THAT–BUT THERE IS EVIDENCE SHOWING THESE UAPs CONCENTRATE AROUND MILITARY FACILITIES–ESPECIALLY THE ONES INVOLVED IN OUR NUCLEAR TRIAD….AND MANY OF THE SAME PEOPLE WHO TESTIFIED BEFORE CONGRESS SAY THE UAPS HAVE THE ABILITY TO INTERFERE WITH MILITARY-GRADE SENSORS AND WEAPONS CONTROL SYSTEMS.

I’M NOT TRYING TO BE AN ALARMIST–AND WHILE I MAY KNOW A FEW–

I DON’T CONSIDER MYSELF A CONSPIRACY THEORIST.

BUT AS A JOURNALIST–I WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH.

BASED ON ALL THE EVIDENCE AND TESTIMONY PRESENTED TO CONGRESS IN JUST THE LAST YEAR–IT SEEMS PRETTY CLEAR THERE IS AN ACTIVE AN ONGOING EFFORT WITHIN THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO CONCEAL THE TRUTH ABOUT UAPS, THERE’S JUST NO OTHER WAY TO SAY IT.

AND BECAUSE OF THAT VACUUM OF TRUTH–CONSPIRACY THEORIES ARE ALLOWED TO SPREAD UNCHECKED.

IF DAYLIGHT TRULY IS THE BEST DISINFECTANT–LET’S HOPE THE NEXT CONGRESS HAS THE GUTS TO DISINFECT MORE DISINFORMATION.

THOSE ARE MY THOUGHTS ANYWAY—WHAT ABOUT YOU? LET US KNOW BY COMMENTING ON OUR SOCIAL FEEDS–OR BY SENDING US AN EMAIL, WEAPONS AND WARFARE AT SAN DOT COM

FOR SENIOR PRODUCER BRETT BAKER, VIDEO EDITOR BRIAN SPENCER AND GRAPHICS ARTIST DAKOTA PITEO–I’M RYAN ROBERTSON WITH STRAIGHT ARROW NEWS, SIGNING OFF.
