[KARAH RUCKER]
THE FIRST PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE IS 20 DAYS AWAY.
LESS THAN FIVE MONTHS FROM TODAY –
IS ELECTION DAY.
AND **90 PERCENT OF AMERICAN VOTERS ALREADY KNOW WHO THEY’RE PUNCHING THE TICKET FOR.
A NEW PEW RESEARCH POLL SHOWS JUST HOW LITTLE MIDDLE GROUND IS LEFT –
AS THE TWO MAJOR POLITICAL PARTIES HAVE TAKEN HARD STANCES ON KEY ISSUES.
HERE ARE SOME OF THE ISSUES WITH THE MOST POLARIZING RESULTS.
WHEN ASKED WHETHER “UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS NEED TO BE DEPORTED” –
NEARLY TWO-THIRDS (63 PERCENT) OF TRUMP SUPPORTERS ARE **FOR DEPORTATION.
**11 PERCENT OF BIDEN SUPPORTERS ARE.
42 PERCENT OF BIDEN SUPPORTERS BELIEVE ABORTION SHOULD BE LEGAL IN ALL CASES, AND 88% BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE LEGAL IN SOME OR ALL CASES.
9 PERCENT OF TRUMP SUPPORTERS BELIEVE ABORTION SHOULD ALWAYS BE LEGAL, AND 38 PERCENT BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE IN SOME OR ALL CASES.
86 PERCENT OF TRUMP SUPPORTERS BELIEVE OWNING GUNS MAKES SOMEONE SAFER.
23 PERCENT OF BIDEN SUPPORTERS FELT THE SAME.
59% OF BIDEN SUPPORTERS SAY A PERSON CAN CHANGE THEIR GENDER DESPITE THEIR SEX ASSIGNED AT BIRTH.
9 PERCENT OF TRUMP SUPPORTERS AGREE.
THE JUSTICE SYSTEM ISN’T TOUGH ENOUGH ON CRIMINALS.
81 PERCENT OF TRUMP SUPPORTERS AND 40% OF BIDEN SUPPORTERS AGREE WITH THAT SENTIMENT.
79% OF BIDEN SUPPORTERS SAY THE LEGACY OF SLAVERY STILL IMPACTS BLACK COMMUNITIES.
27% OF TRUMP SUPPORTERS AGREED.
THE PARTISAN GAPS ON MAJOR ISSUES HAS WIDENED IN RECENT DECADES.
THERE’S ALSO THE HIGHEST SHARE IN THREE DECADES OF AMERICANS WHO **DISLIKE THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM SINCE THE PARTIES HAVE BECOME MORE POLARIZED.
EVEN IN THIS POLITICALLY DIVISIVE ENVIRONMENT –
THERE IS STILL SOME MIDDLE GROUND.
THE MAJORITY OF BOTH BIDEN AND TRUMP SUPPORTERS BELIEVE IN MORE NEEDING TO BE DONE TO ADDRESS MENTAL HEALTH.
THE POLL ALSO FOUND THE PARTIES HAVE A SHARED SKEPTICISM OVER ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.
WHICH SUCH STRONG, AND OPPOSING OPINIONS FROM THE TWO MAJOR POLITICAL PARTIES –
IT’S LEFT ABOUT 10% OF U.S. VOTERS NATIONWIDE – **AND IN SWING STATES – IN THE FAR MINORITY OF FEELING “UNDECIDED” AHEAD OF NOVEMBER.
AND WITH POLLS MORE OFTEN THAN NOT SHOWING A TIGHT RACE BETWEEN BIDEN AND TRUMP –
THAT 10 PERCENT OF VOTERS WHO DON’T FALL SO FAR ONE WAY OR THE OTHER ON THE POLITICAL SPECTRUM –
COULD ULTIMATELY DECIDE WHO WINS THE PRESIDENCY.
