The House Judiciary Committee was criticized on Thursday, Feb. 27, after “Rickrolling” its X followers by stating it had the Epstein client list.

A post made on the House Judiciary GOP account stated, “BREAKING: EPSTEIN FILES RELEASED,” followed by a link that took users to the “Never Gonna Give You Up,” music video on YouTube.

Rickrolling is a prank in which someone sends a link or file and tells the recipient they need to urgently open it. When the person opens it, Rick Astley’s 1987 hit, “Never Gonna Give You Up” plays.

Less than an hour after it was posted, X fact-checkers placed a community note on the post that said it was not the real Epstein client list.

Multiple X users were not impressed.

“Is this supposed to be funny,” Monnie asked.

“You hacked?” Brick Suit wondered.

“Sending American people to a tiny url that redirects to an unknown destination is a great way to ensure trust in the cybersecurity domain,” Kristen Ruby wrote.

“Would be hilarious if it wasn’t so distasteful given the content we’re talking about,” Kayla_FadeSan wrote.

Attorney General Pam Bondi is in possession of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein’s client list and said she hopes to release names and flight logs by Thursday.

Epstein was charged with sex trafficking of minors in 2019 and later found dead in his jail cell. It was officially ruled a suicide, although there have been serious questions about the results of the autopsy.

Some of the world’s wealthiest and most powerful people had ties to Epstein, and the public is demanding to know who else took part in his abuse of teenage girls. Those with alleged connections to Epstein include President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew and Bill Gates.
