How much grant funding does Planned Parenthood receive?
Planned Parenthood is one of the groups to have its grants frozen. Its clinics are set to receive $20 million in family planning grants this year.
The freeze would see government funding stop for pregnancy testing, providing contraception, treatment of sexually transmitted infections and counseling on infertility.
A Health and Human Services Spokesperson said HHS is reviewing grant recipients to make sure they comply with President Trump’s executive orders. HHS distributes the funds under a program known as Title X.
The program funds free or discounted services to about four million people every year through a network of about 4,000 clinics.
Has there been any reaction?
The president and CEO of Planned Parenthood, Alexis McGill Johnson, said the White House is trying to shut down the group.
“The Trump-Vance-Musk administration wants to shut down Planned Parenthood health center by any means necessary, and they’ll end people’s access to birth control, cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment and more to do it,” McGill Johnson said.
