Podcast series revealed allegations

The Vulture article expanded on claims originally reported in six episodes of the Tortoise Media podcast, “Master: The Allegations Against Neil Gaiman.” The series included accounts from two of the women who came forward, including Pavlovich.

In one episode, Pavlovich described her experience with Gaiman.

“He started to say really kind of quite filthy things and, um, you know, sort of ordering me to call him ‘master.’”

According to the lawsuit, Palmer initially invited Pavlovich into their home to help with errands and babysitting. Pavlovich claims Gaiman first assaulted her the night they met in February 2022.

She also alleges he raped her again on Feb. 14, calling it a “Valentine’s Day present.” The lawsuit states other incidents of sexual assault occurred, sometimes in the presence of Gaiman’s child.

Gaiman denies allegations

Gaiman has denied all allegations of assault. He claims all encounters with Pavlovich, as well as seven other women who have publicly accused him, were consensual.

However, the lawsuit argues otherwise.

Palmer, who originally hired Pavlovich, is also named in the lawsuit. Pavlovich alleges Palmer knew about Gaiman’s history of sexual misconduct and mental health struggles.

The lawsuit states, “Palmer knew about Gaiman’s sexual predilections and need to humiliate his female sexual partners—with or without their consent.”

Financial struggles influenced decision to stay

Pavlovich claims both Gaiman and Palmer were aware she was homeless and struggling financially. She says she only stayed in the situation out of fear of losing her job, housing and the career support Gaiman had promised her.

She is seeking $1 million in damages for physical, emotional and psychological harm.

The former nanny of author Neil Gaiman and his ex-wife, Amanda Palmer, is filing a lawsuit accusing them of rape and human trafficking.

As reported last month, a Vulture article detailed multiple allegations against Gaiman, including Scarlett Pavlovich, who officially filed her lawsuit on Monday.

The article expanded on claims originally reported in a series of six podcast episodes last summer from Tortoise Media. Those episodes included accounts from two of the women—one of them being Pavlovich.

In the Tortoise Media podcast, Pavlovich said:

“He started to say really kind of quite filthy things and, um, you know, sort of ordering me to call him ‘master.’”

According to the lawsuit, which was also referenced in previous reporting, Palmer initially invited Pavlovich to their home to help with errands and babysitting. Pavlovich claims Gaiman first assaulted her the night they met in February 2022.

Gaiman has denied all allegations of assault, claiming his encounters with the women who have publicly spoken out were consensual. However, Pavlovich’s lawsuit states otherwise.

She alleges Gaiman raped her in a second assault on February 14 of that same year, calling it a “Valentine’s Day present,” and claims other incidents of sexual assault occurred—sometimes in the presence of his child.

Amanda Palmer, Gaiman’s ex-wife who originally hired Pavlovich, is also named in the lawsuit. Pavlovich alleges Palmer was aware of her husband’s mental health issues and history of sexual misconduct.

The lawsuit states:

“Palmer knew about Gaiman’s sexual predilections and need to humiliate his female sexual partners—with or without their consent.”

Pavlovich also claims both Gaiman and Palmer knew she was homeless and financially struggling at the time. She says she only stayed in the situation out of fear of losing her job, housing, and the career support Gaiman promised her.

She is seeking $1 million in damages for physical, emotional, and psychological harm.
