Alleged human smugglers in Canada take to TikTok to Promise ‘100 Percent Safe’ Border Crossings: Report

Human smugglers are using social media, especially TikTok, to promote illegal crossings from Canada to the U.S., as reported by The New York Post. Smugglers charge foreign nationals between $4,000 and $5,000 for their services, advertising a “100 percent safe” journey into the U.S.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis has called for an investigation by the Department of Justice into the use of apps for human trafficking activities, according to The New York Post.

Officials have noted an increase in illegal crossings at the northern border, including individuals on the terrorist watch list, according to Rep. Ryan Zinke.
