ATF chief legal counsel fired by Bondi in latest Justice Department shakeup

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi fired Pamela Hicks, chief counsel for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, on Feb. 20, as part of a broader effort to remove Biden-era officials. Hicks announced her termination from the Department of Justice in a social media post, confirming the abrupt change in her position.

Gun Owners of America criticized Hicks’ oversight of gun regulations under the Biden administration since 2021.

The Brady Campaign condemned Hicks’ firing, stating that it increases risks related to gun trafficking oversight.
