Colorado mayor speaks out after video of armed Venezuelan gang in apartment goes viral: ‘Failed policy’

Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman confirmed that Venezuelan gangs, including the Tren de Aragua, have overtaken apartment buildings in the city, collecting rent from residents through intimidation. The situation escalated after viral footage showed armed gang members, leading to the apprehension of a gang leader known as “Cookie Monster.” Coffman attributed the issue to federal immigration policies and nearby Denver’s sanctuary city status, labeling Aurora a “victim” of failed border security.
