Gun purchase surge among LGBTQ community as Trump’s White House return looms: Report

LGBTQ+ groups are buying guns for self-defense ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration, according to a report from the Philadelphia Inquirer. The Liberal Gun Club has received thousands of training requests since the election, a quarter of which are reportedly coming from the LGBTQ community.
New Jersey resident Matthew Thompson, who identifies as gay, said that many are purchasing guns out of fear of being placed in concentration camps. David Yamane, a sociology professor at Wake Forest University, noted a cultural shift in gun ownership, with minority groups like gay people leading the way since 2020.
