Iran slams new US oil sanctions, calls them ‘illegal and unjustified’

Iran condemned the recent expansion of U.S. sanctions on its oil industry as “illegal and unjustified” following Tehran’s missile attack on Israel. The United States imposed new sanctions on Iran’s oil and petrochemical industry in response to Iran’s Tuesday, Oct. 1 attack against Israel.
The U.S .Treasury targeted Iran’s shadow fleet with the sanctions. It designated at least 10 companies and 17 vessels as “blocked property” for selling Iranian oil despite existing sanctions.

In a statement, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei defended Iran’s attack on Israel and “strongly condemned” the sanctions, saying they were “illegal and unjustified.”
