Mayorkas denied ‘repeated requests’ for more Secret Service protection for Trump, GOP lawmaker says

Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., claimed Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas refused multiple requests for enhanced Secret Service protection for former President Donald Trump. Waltz’s accusation followed an incident where Trump was shot in the ear at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday, July 13. The House Homeland Security Committee said it intended to probe the allegations of denied protection for Trump before the event.

Several other lawmakers are also calling for Secret Service protection for all of the candidates in the 2024 presidential election, including independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
