Mexico president expects ‘good’ deal with Trump to avoid tariffs

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Tuesday, Feb. 25, that she expected to reach a “good agreement” with her U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, this week to avoid being hit with tariffs. Trump had initially delayed imposing tariffs on Mexico, but said on Monday, Feb. 25, that they would be moving ahead as planned.

While Sheinbaum said that she expects an agreement to be made by the following Monday, at the latest, she added she will speak to Trump again by phone if necessary. Mexican officials are in Washington this week to discuss an agreement.
