Trump orders revamp of US diplomatic corps to ensure they follow his agenda

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Feb. 12 to create a unified voice for U.S. foreign service activities and strengthen his policy agenda. The order mandates that Secretary of State Marco Rubio oversee foreign service personnel and improve hiring practices, with grounds for termination for non-compliance with the president’s policies.

Thousands of USAID employees were placed on administrative leave, leading to a lawsuit from the American Foreign Service Association over national security concerns.

The executive order emphasizes accountability for foreign policy implementation and allows the Secretary of State to enforce disciplinary actions against non-compliant staff.
