US funded over 1,000 patents for China-based researchers, data shows

The U.S. funded over 1,000 patents for inventors based in China since 2010. Several government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Defense, NASA and other agencies issued funding, as reported by the U.S. Patent agency.

These patents included areas like biotechnology and semiconductors. Many of them were for designs related to sensitive projects, according to the U.S. Patent office. The most patents came from the Department of Health and Human Services, totaling 356. The Defense Department contributed an additional 92.
