Voters flood town halls with fears of Social Security cuts, putting heat on GOP over Musk and DOGE

Voters expressed concerns about potential cuts to Social Security, particularly due to actions attributed to Musk and DOGE that claim payments are made to deceased individuals. Ned Johnson, mistakenly declared dead by Social Security, had $5,201 taken from his account before proving he was alive.

Polling shows that a majority of Republicans believe the U.S. is spending too little on Social Security and oppose cuts to it, according to a January AP-NORC poll.

Despite claims of not cutting Social Security, over 10% of the Social Security Administration workforce is being laid off, causing further public concern.
