A lame-duck presidency awaits Donald Trump’s second term

Incoming President-elect Donald Trump enjoys the considerable advantages of Republican majorities in both the House and Senate, as well as a conservative majority on the Supreme Court and GOP control over 29 state legislatures. From a distance, it would seem that these advantages might clear the way for Donald Trump to make rapid and substantial progress toward enacting new policies and accomplishing his personal goals.

Watch the above video as Straight Arrow News contributor Dr. Rashad Richey explains why he thinks this might not be the case, and argues that President-elect Trump is instead headed for a “lame-duck” presidency defined by GOP infighting.

The following is an excerpt from the above video:

Let me have a conversation with Republicans. Or should I say MAGA, because there’s no Republican Party anymore. You allowed individuals who could care less about your conservative ideology to hijack you. Why? Because you’re weak and cowardly? No, because you all are afraid to be loud and boisterous, and you are scared of individuals who dare challenge you inside of conservative ranks. So here you go. You got MAGA.

You do know that Donald Trump will be entering as a lame-duck president? Let me remind you. You see, Trump can’t run for president again, at least based on current constitutional law. That means he’s a lame duck, which also means he makes decisions based on the restrictions of the four-year term.

Power doesn’t care who’s in the presidential seat. You will have infighting. You will see Republicans tear each other up. They’re already doing it. Why? Because they realize Trump is a lame-duck president. He got four years. He has nothing more. There’s no reelection plan. There’s no team after the four years, it’s just a bench, and everybody from JD Vance to child sex trafficking-accused Matt Gaetz, they want a position on the throne. They want an opportunity of power.

Yeah, okay, let me have a conversation with Republicans. Or should I say, Maga, because there’s no Republican Party anymore, you allowed individuals who could care less about your conservative ideology to hijack you. Why? Because you’re weak and cowardly. No, because you all are afraid to be loud and boisterous, and you are scared of individuals who dare challenge you inside of conservative ranks. So here you go. You got Maga.

So think about that when you consider why things aren’t getting done while there’s government gridlock, why the positions and policies you believe in aren’t part of the agenda? Because Trump is a lame duck president, which also means you’re in the great hands of JD Vance and cronies feel safe yet like that. I.
