Today, we’re diving into a real page-turner in the genre of “How to Dismantle a Democracy.” You may have heard of Project 2025, a conservative blueprint that basically says, “what if we just burned down the government…but called it reform?”
Now, what’s fascinating – if by “fascinating” you mean “absolutely terrifying” – is how closely this plan aligns with the greatest hits of Donald Trump’s presidency to date. Spoiler alert: This isn’t a coincidence. It’s like Trump spent his entire first presidency and second campaign beta-testing their dystopian manifesto.
Let’s start with Schedule F. Doesn’t that sound harmless? Like a calendar app? Oh, but it’s not. Trump’s executive order back in 2020 created this new employee category where you could fire career civil servants and replace them with MAGA loyalists. Want climate scientists who actually understand science? Too bad!
Under schedule F, you’ll get a guy named Bob whose qualifications include a firm belief that the Earth is 6000 years old and that space lasers cause wildfires. Project 2025 loves this idea, because why have a functioning, independent government when you can just turn it into your personal fan club?
And speaking of dismantling things, let’s talk about the environment. One of Trump’s proudest moments was pulling us out of the Paris Climate Agreement, because nothing says “leadership” like walking away from the global effort to save the planet. He also rolled back over 100 environmental regulations because, apparently, clean air and water are “woke.” It’s the governing equivalent of setting your house on fire because the A/C is too expensive.
But there’s more! Let’s talk about diversity, equity, and inclusion, or what we humans who are capable of talking and thinking at the same time called “not being a terrible person.” Trump issued an executive order to ban DEI programs in federal agencies, saying it was “discriminatory.” Project 2025’s goal is, in essence, to replace DEI with DOI: Division, Oppression, and Inequality.
And then there’s immigration, because nothing says MAGA like the sheer and undisguised hatred of people who don’t look like you. Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border so that he could build a wall. You know, that really effective wall that Mexico absolutely did not pay for? Project 2025 takes this approach further, suggesting even stricter immigration reforms. Their motto might as well be “give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses..but only if they could pass for a Fox TV host.”
The bottom line: Project 2025 isn’t just Trumpism 2.0…it’s Trumpism on steroids. It’s a playbook for concentrating power in the tiny, greedy hands of a few, dismantling decades of progress, and leaving everyday Americans to foot the bill.
But here’s the thing: We don’t have to accept this. Democracy is messy, and loud, and frequently deeply frustrating…but it works if we make it work. If we want a government that serves all of us – not just the wealthy, the powerful, or the well-connected – then we have to demand it. Fight for it. Vote for it.
Midterms are coming up. Stay loud.
Project 2025 is Trumpism on steroids
By Straight Arrow News
President Trump has already taken several actions that align with Project 2025, a far-right blueprint for Trump’s second term developed by the Heritage Foundation. Among other intiatives, his administration has moved to eliminate DEI programs, reinstate service members dismissed for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine, and revive “Schedule F,” a policy making it easier to fire career civil service employees and replace them with pro-Trump loyalists. Trump has also appointed several figures tied to Project 2025, including co-author Russell Vought as his Office of Management and Budget (OMB) nominee.
Watch as Straight Arrow News contributor Jordan Reid revisits Trump’s first term and examines how it laid the groundwork for enacting Project 2025, a playbook she says is Trump’s attempt at consolidating power, undoing progress, and shifting costs onto everyday Americans.
