Medicaid spending on migrants in Florida plummets after DeSantis crackdown on illegals: report

The amount of Medicaid money Florida has paid out to undocumented migrants has been cut by over half — falling at around 54% — after a new law signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, R.

Concerns arise that Gov. DeSantis’ new policy may deter migrants from seeking urgent care, leading to a drop in Medicaid spending.

Last year, approximately $148.4 million in state and federal Medicaid funds covered emergency care for migrants in Florida, but recent data shows a significant decrease in that amount.
