New polling from ABC/Ipsos shows most Americans want President Joe Biden to consider all qualified Supreme Court nominees for Justice Stephen Breyer’s replacement. 76 percent of Americans want Biden to consider all candidates, while 23 percent want him to focus on Black women.
“Put me in the camp of making sure the court and other institutions look like America,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told CBS.
The poll also found that 43 percent of people believe the Supreme Court rules based on politics. Only 38 percent of people polled think the decisions are based on the law.
“It adds to the further perception that the court is a political institution like Congress when it is not supposed to be,” Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said of Biden’s handling of his nominee choice.
