Beta version of Trump social media app “Truth Social” launches, 500 testing

According to multiple conservative media sources, a beta version of “Truth Social”, the social media app from former President Donald Trump, has launched. Reuters, citing these sources, reported about 500 people are using an early version of the app. This includes former President Trump himself, as well as Right Side Broadcasting Network correspondent and Vice President of Operations Liz Willis.

“TRUTH Social (beta) has dropped and President Trump is active on his own account! The world is healing,” Willis tweeted Tuesday. Included in the tweet was a screenshot showing Trump was already up to 175 followers. According to a screenshot sent to Reuters, his following had grown to 317 by late Wednesday.

“Get ready! Your favorite president will see you soon,” Trump posted, according to Willis’ tweet.

Willis told Reuters she received an email Tuesday saying “T Media Tech LLC has invited you to test Truth Social.” Willis was able to download the app on her iPhone through the beta testing site TestFlight, the Apple-owned product that developers use prior to launching their apps in the App Store.

Another Truth Social beta version tester is Wayne Dupree. He is the founder of WayneDupree.com and host of a conservative podcast.

“I can see my participation in Truth Social outgrowing Twitter because it seems I am not suppressed like I have been on Twitter, since 2016,” Dupree said. “I want to share my single dad chronicles. I want my followers to see I am more than politics and I feel Truth Social is going to allow my audience to see me as Twitter purposely does not.”

The Truth Social beta version launch comes a year after Trump was banned from Facebook and Twitter following the Jan. 6 Capitol riots. Since then, Trump has recruited former Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) to become the CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the media company behind Truth Social. According to Nunes, the social media app will fully launch by the end of March.
