Corn, oil, and bipartisanship. The White House is hoping it will be the perfect blend for reducing gas prices.
Let me explain. The EPA is issuing an emergency waiver to allow the sale of gasoline with a 15 percent ethanol blend.
Normally gas is sold with a ten percent ethanol blend because too much ethanol during the summer can lead to smog. But this is all about saving people money. The White House says this could help drivers in the south and midwest save an average of 10 cents per gallon at the pump.
Industry groups and a bipartisan group of lawmakers were calling for the use of E15.
Senator Deb Fischer stated: “If President Biden is serious about driving down costs for Americans, he should allow the sale of E15 during the summer, throughout the energy crisis and beyond. Doing so would be good for families, the environment, and rural America.”
The White House blames the war in Ukraine and calls current inflation the Putin Price Hike. But a new ABC News IPSOS poll shows many Americans are also pointing their finger at the President. When asked how much do you blame the following for gas price increases? 71 percent of respondents said Vladimir and 68 percent said oil companies. But more than half of respondents also blamed Joe Biden and Democratic policies.
Gas prices have fallen for three weeks in a row. Analysis from Gas Buddy shows prices are more than 7 cents lower than last week and 23 cents lower than a month ago. Straight from DC, I’m Ray Bogan
