Annie Andersen: SENATE DEMOCRATS REMAIN CONFIDENT THEY CAN PASS THE 1.7 TRILLION DOLLAR SOCIAL SPENDING BILL – BY THE END OF THE YEAR.
Sen. Chuck Schumer: “The Senate is moving forward on the reconciliation process so that we can vote on the Build Back Better Act before the Christmas holiday.”
Annie Andersen: BUT HERE’S THE THING… IT ALL COMES DOWN TO ONE PERSON, SENATOR JOE MANCHIN.
MANCHIN HOLDS ALL THE CARDS AND HE TOLD REPORTERS HE ISN’T IN A RUSH TO PASS BUILD BACK BETTER.
BECAUSE THIS WILL BE A RECONCILIATION BILL.. IT ONLY NEEDS 51 VOTES TO PASS.
BUT THAT MEANS EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRAT IN THE SENATE MUST VOTE FOR THE BILL.
THE DEMOCRAT FROM WEST VIRGINIA SPOKE TO BIDEN OVER THE PHONE MONDAY TO TALK ABOUT WHAT HE WANTS TO SEE IN THE BILL.
MANCHIN HAS SAID HE DOESN’T LIKE HOW SOME PROGRAMS ARE FUNDED FOR VARIOUS LENGTHS… SAYING WHILE THAT MIGHT SEEM LIKE A LOWER PRICE TAG ON PAPER, IT LIKELY WON’T TURN OUT THAT WAY.
ONE MAJOR STICKING POINT.. CHILD TAX CREDITS.
THEY EXPIRE ON THE 31ST.
SCHUMER WANTS THEM… MANCHIN NOT SO MUCH.. SAYING FROM THE START HE THOUGHT THEY WERE TOO GENEROUS.
Brian Williams: “Is it safe to assume the modest Maserati-driving, houseboat-living gentleman from West Virginia is a ‘No’ on the Biden bill?”
Annie Andersen: MANCHIN SAYS HE IS STILL “ENGAGED” IN THE PROCESS BUT SAYS HE WANTS TO SEE THE BILL.. WHICH IS YET TO BE FINALIZED.
STRAIGHT FROM DC… I’M ANNIE ANDERSEN
