Boeing reports security credential lapse of staff working on Air Force One

Full story

The Pentagon is seeking answers regarding Boeing aircraft employees who were found to be working on current and future Air Force One planes without the proper security clearance to do so. Security credentials are needed for anyone working on aircraft that will be used by the president and the U.S. government.

The Pentagon found about 250 Boeing employees had credentials that expired months or years ago. At least one case had credentials that expired seven years ago. All of the employees at one time did have the proper credentials to work on classified projects, so the Pentagon believes the problem will be quickly resolved.

Boeing reported the security clearance lapse to government officials, calling it an administrative issue and promising to treat the security of presidential aircraft with the highest priority.

For now, employees with expired clearance will be sidelined and will no longer be working on current or future projects for Air Force One.
