JAMES CRUMBLEY, FATHER OF THE TEENAGER RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEADLY MICHIGAN HIGH SCHOOL SHOOTING IN 2021 THAT LEFT FOUR STUDENTS DEAD AND SEVERAL OTHERS INJURED, HAS BEEN FOUND GUILTY OF INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER.
THIS VERDICT COMES CLOSELY AFTER THE SHOOTER’S MOTHER — JENNIFER– FACED SIMILAR CHARGES. CRUMBLEY WAS CONVICTED ON FOUR COUNTS AND HE FACES UP TO 15 YEARS IN PRISON.
CRUMBLEY AND HIS WIFE WILL BE SENTENCED IN APRIL.
IN COURT, PROSECUTORS CHARGED THAT THE CRUMBLEYS HAD IGNORED OBVIOUS WARNING SIGNS AND CRITICIZED THEM FOR THEIR NEGLIGENCE IN NOT SECURING THE FIREARM INVOLVED IN THE SHOOTING.
THE NEW YORK TIMES REPORTS THAT THIS CASE REPRESENTS THE FIRST TIME IN THE U.S., THAT PARENTS HAVE BEEN DIRECTLY CHARGED FOR DEATHS RESULTING FROM A MASS SHOOTING CARRIED OUT BY THEIR CHILD.
