Jimmie Johnson: HE’S AT THE CENTER OF A PROP GUN SCENE TURNED DEADLY ON THE SET OF THE WESTERN MOVIE ‘RUST’.
NOW WE’VE LEARNED ALEC BALDWIN TRIED TO ARRANGE A SETTLEMENT WITH THE HUSBAND OF CINEMATOGRAPHER HAYLNA HUTCHINS.
THE SETTLEMENT — FIRST REPORTED BY THE NEW YORK TIMES- REPORTEDLY WOULD HAVE ALLOWED THE FILMING OF THE MOVIE TO BE COMPLETED.
THE REVELATIONS CAME FROM AN ARBITRATION FILING FRIDAY.
ACCORDING TO THE FILING — THE SETTLEMENT DISCUSSIONS ENDED LAST MONTH WHEN THE WIDOWER FILED A WRONGFUL DEATH LAWSUIT AGAINST BALDWIN AND OTHERS INVOLVED WITH THE FILM.
Brian Panish, attorney: “I think it’s clear what happened. Alec had the gun in his hand. He shot at Halyna was killed. Now do we have the video? We don’t have it all yet, but the gun cannot fire unless the trigger is engaged and the hammer is back. So he had the gun, he says he pulled the hammer back. It fired. She was killed.”
Jimmie Johnson: BALDWIN’S ATTORNEYS ARE POINTING TO A CLAUSE IN HIS CONTRACT THAT WOULD FORCE THE PRODUCER AND PRODUCTION COMPANY TO ASSUME LIABILITY FOR ALL LEGAL CLAIMS AND PAY FOR BALDWIN’S DEFENSE.
