FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried faces 4 new charges

Full story

FTX co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried has just been issued an additional four indictments. He is now facing 12 charges related to multiple schemes to defraud FTX investors. He is already awaiting trial for alleged money laundering, wire fraud, commodities fraud and other charges.

The new counts could cost him an extra 40 years of prison time. That means he is now facing 155 years in prison if he’s convicted in all counts in the case.

The additional charges include ones related to commodities fraud and making unlawful political contributions. The indictment offers new details of more than 300 political donations totaling tens of millions of dollars that Bankman-Fried made in violation of federal campaign finance laws.

For now, Bankman-Fried is at his parents house where he was ordered to home confinement in December after being released on a $250 million bail.
