SHOOTINGS IN NEW YORK ARE A DAILY EVENT ON LOCAL NEWS.
BUT IT’S NOT EVERYDAY THAT BULLETS END UP FEET AWAY FROM A CONGRESSMAN’S FRONT DOOR.
“I’m standing in front of crime scene tape in front of my own house. You can’t get me any more outraged than right now.”
CONGRESSMAN LEE ZELDIN OF NEW YORK IS RUNNING FOR NEW YORK GOVERNOR IN NOVEMBER.
HE DESCRIBES A SHOOTING THAT HAPPENED IN FRONT OF HIS HOUSE THIS WEEKEND AS HIS TWO DAUGHTERS WERE INSIDE AND HEARD GUNSHOTS AND SCREAMS —PROMPTING THEM TO CALL 9-1-1.
POLICE SAY THE SHOOTING WAS UNRELATED TO ZELDIN.
BUT AT A TIME WHEN CRIME ACROSS THE COUNTRY IS GETTING THE ATTENTION OF VOTERS…ZELDIN IS USING THIS WEEKEND’S SHOOTING AS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW CRIME IS RUNNING RAMPANT ON THE STREETS OF NEW YORK.
THE SHOOTING COMES JUST MONTHS AFTER ZELDIN WAS ATTACKED ON STAGE AT A CAMPAIGN EVENT IN NEW YORK.
VOTERS HAVE TAKEN NOTICE…WITH 75 PERCENT SAYING VIOLENT CRIME IS A MAJOR PROBLEM.
60 PERCENT SAYING IT’S A MAJOR FACTOR IN WHO THEY VOTE FOR…IN LESS THAN THIRTY DAYS.
