How the filibuster played into the failure of the Capitol riot commission bill

Shannon Longworth breaks down the role of the filibuster in the Capitol riot commission bill dying on the Senate floor.

Shannon Longworth: I’M SHANNON LONGWORTH WITH STRAIGHT ARROW NEWS.

AN UPDATE FOR YOU FROM CAPITOL HILL….

SENATE REPUBLICANS BLOCKED THE VOTE TO FORM A SPECIAL COMMISSION TO INVESTIGATE THE JANUARY 6TH RIOTS.

THEY DID IT BY USING THE FILIBUSTER.

SEVERAL REPUBLICANS SPOKE FOR AN HOUR EACH WELL INTO THE MORNING.

IN ORDER TO STOP THE FILIBUSTER, DEMOCRATS NEEDED TEN ADDITIONAL VOTES TO GET TO 60 — BUT THEY ONLY GOT 54.

NOW, THE FILIBUSTER ITSELF IS PRETTY CONTROVERSIAL.

SO WE TAKE A LOOK AT THE PROS AND CONS IN A SPECIAL REPORT.
