The Director of National Intelligence says her office will conduct a national security risk assessment on the documents taken from Former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home. DNI Avril Haines also stated in a letter that her office is working with the Justice Department to facilitate a classification review.
This comes as U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon is asking the Justice Department to submit a more detailed list of the materials seized during the August 8th raid on Mar-a-Lago. She said it was her quote “preliminary intent” to grant Trump’s request to have a special master review all the documents.
A spokesperson for Trump said Democrats have quote “weaponized the intel community against President Trump with selective and dishonest leaks.”
The affidavit used to obtain the Mar-a-Lago search warrant was unsealed Friday and revealed classified material had already been obtained from Trump’s Florida estate. FBI agents also stated they believed more classified material remained on the premises and that there was probable cause to believe there was evidence of obstruction.
