IN A TRAGIC INCIDENT OUT OF OKLAHOMA, A COMPANY THAT SELLS LIVESTOCK FEED HAS ADMITTED RESPONSIBILITY FOR A CONTAMINATED BATCH THAT LED TO THE DEATHS OF AS MANY 70 RODEO HORSES.
A VETERINARIAN REPORTED A POTENTIAL ISSUE WITH A BULK ORDER OF FEED TO THE OKLAHOMA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, FOOD AND FORESTRY. THE FEED, WHICH WAS DELIVERED TO BEUTLER AND SON RODEO COMPANY, IS NOW CONFIRMED TO HAVE CAUSED THE DEATHS OF THESE HORSES.
CO-OWNER RHETT BEUTLER said THAT AFTER FEEDING THE ANIMALS, THE HORSES JUST STARTED FALLING OVER.
ODAFF QUICKLY TRACED THE FEED BACK TO ITS ORIGIN IN KANSAS, AND BY AUGUST 31ST, THE LIVESTOCK NUTRITION CENTER RELEASED A STATEMENT ADMITTING FAULT.
THE COMPANY’S PRESIDENT SAID THE FEED WAS CONTAMINATED WITH, AN ADDITIVE THAT’S TOXIC TO HORSES, DUE TO A COMBINATION OF A FAILED CLEANOUT PROCEDURE AND A SENSOR MALFUNCTION.
THE PRESIDENT OF THE LIVESTOCK NUTRITION CENTER EXPRESSED DEEP REGRET, AND OFFERED TO ASSIST AND SUPPORT THE BEUTLER FAMILY IN ORDER TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT.
HE ALSO EMPHASIZED THAT THIS WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT, AND THE COMPANY IS TAKING STEPS TO ENSURE IT NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN.
