Major General Donahue last to leave Afghanistan, ends 20 years of war


Major General Chris Donahue was the last soldier to leave Afghanistan, officially ending 20 years of war. Social media applauded his efforts and commitment. Donahue commands the 82nd Airborne Division, the elite infantry division for parachuting into enemy territory at a moment’s notice.

FOR STARTERS  – HE IS NOT A CAPTAIN HE’S TWO STAR U-S MAJOR GENERAL CHRIS DONAHUE

COMMANDER OF THE U.S. ARMY 82ND AIRBORNE, THE ELITE INFANTRY DIVISION KNOWN FOR PARACHUTING INTO ENEMY TERRITORY AT A MOMENTS NOTICE. 

THEY ARE THE HEART OF THE NATION’S IMMEDIATE RESPONSE FORCE. 

THAT’S WHY ACCORDING TO THE MILITARY TIMES – MAJOR GENERAL  DONAHUE WAS SENT TO KABUL TO OVERSEE THE  EVACUATION OF PEOPLE FLEEING THE TALIBAN. 

PENTAGON SPOKESPERSON JOHN KIRBY SAID “THE TASK OF SECURING AND OPERATING AN AIRFIELD IS ACTUALLY A UNIQUE TASK THAT THE 82ND CAN DO, AND MAJOR GENERAL DONAHUE HAS EXPERIENCE IN THAT”.

SPEAKING OF EXPERIENCE, DONAHUE DEPLOYED SEVENTEEN TIMES SPANNING AFGHANISTAN, IRAQ, SYRIA, NORTH AFRICA AND EASTERN EUROPE.

HE PREVIOUSLY SERVED AS THE COMMANDER OF THE SPECIAL OPERATIONS JOINT TASK FORCE – AFGHANISTAN IN SUPPORT OF OPERATION FREEDOM’S SENTINEL.
