Mattel’s new Naomi Osaka Barbie doll sells out hours after release


Mattel released a new Barbie Role Model doll in the image of Naomi Osaka, the Japanese professional tennis player competing in the Tokyo Olympic Games. The doll sold out on Amazon and caused quite the buzz on the internet.

THERE’S A NEW BARBIE ON THE SCENE AND THIS ONE COMES WITH A TENNIS RACKET INSTEAD OF A PINK JEEP. 

MATTEL RELEASED A NAOMI OSAKA DOLL IN THE BARBIE ROLE MODEL SERIES. 

THE TENNIS PLAYER SAYS SHE IS HONORED TO BE A PART OF THE SERIES, 

AND IT WILL, “REMIND YOUNG GIRLS THAT THEY CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD.”

THE NEW OSAKA DOLL IS SPORTING THE SAME OUTFIT SHE WORE IN THE 2020 AUSTRALIAN OPEN. ALTHOUGH SHE DIDN’T WIN, HER OUTFIT  DID MAKE A STATEMENT. 

THE DOLL COMES OUT IN A STRATEGIC TIME FOR HER.

WITH OSAKA BEING A HOT TOPIC WITH HER FRENCH OPEN WITHDRAWAL FOR MENTAL HEALTH REASONS.

AND SHE’S AT THE TOP OF HER GAME – GRACING THE COVER OF TIME MAGAZINE AND COMPETING IN THE TOKYO OLYMPICS.
