Memphis crime spree, military aid for Ukraine, Bannon to face fraud charges

On Sept. 8, 2022, a 19-year-old suspect is now in custody after an eight-hour crime spree in Memphis, the U.S. is set to send another $2 billion in aid to Ukraine and other European countries, and Steve Bannon will turn himself in on state fraud charges.

Deadly crime spree in Memphis – Four people are dead and three others are wounded after a shooting rampage in Memphis on Wednesday. The suspect was reportedly recording the crimes and posting them to Facebook. There were at least eight crime scenes involving deadly shootings and violent carjackings. It would take eight hours before officials were able to catch the 19-year-old suspect.

More military aid for Ukraine – Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced $2 billion dollars in new military aid for Ukraine and 18 other European countries amid Russia’s invasion. Blinken’s announcement came during an unscheduled visit to Kyiv on Thursday. The visit comes just hours after Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced a $675 million package of heavy weaponry, ammunition and armored vehicles for Ukraine.

Steve Bannon to face fraud charges – Steve Bannon is expected to turn himself in Thursday to face state fraud charges accusing him of duping people who donated money to build a border wall at the U.S.-Mexico border. The expected surrender will come just months after Bannon was convicted on contempt charges for defying a subpoena from the Jan. 6 committee.
