NEW YORK STATE AND CITY OFFICIALS ARE SET TO UNVEIL THEIR PROPOSED BUDGETS FOR THE NEXT FISCAL YEAR TUESDAY AND IMMIGRATION WILL BE A TOP AREA OF CONCERN..
WITH NEW YORK CITY CARING FOR NEARLY 70-THOUSAND MIGRANTS LIVING IN SHELTERS – BILLIONS OF EXTRA DOLLARS WILL BE NEEDED TO PROVIDE THEM WITH FOOD, SHELTER, AND MEDICAL CARE.
NEW YORK STATE OFFICIALS PROJECT THE MIGRANT CRISIS WILL COST NEW YORK CITY $10-BILLION DOLLARS THROUGH THE SUMMER OF 2025.
NEW YORK GOVERNOR KATHY HOCHUL ON TUESDAY UNVEILED A $233-BILLION DOLLAR BUDGET FOR THE STATE – AND SAID THE STATE PLANS TO DIRECT $2-POINT-4-BILLION TO NEW YORK CITY TO HELP FUND THE COST OF MIGRANT CARE… WITH $500-MILLION OF THAT COMING FROM THE STATE’S RESERVES.

“WE MUST SUPPORT THE CITY OF NEW YORK IN THIS MOMENT TO AVOID THESE DISASTROUS EFFECTS AND TO PROTECT OUR ECONOMY AND STATE REVENUES IN THE SHORT-TERM AND LONG-TERM AS WELL. WE’RE GOING TO CONTINUE FOCUSING ON SECURING WORK AUTHORIZATION AND PUT THE MIGRANTS AND ASYLUM WORKERS TO WORK. PUT THEM TO WORK. THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT THEY CAME HERE FOR.”

NEW YORK CITY MAYOR ERIC ADAMS’ ADMINISTRATION IS EXPECTED TO UNVEIL A PROPOSED $110-BILLION DOLLAR BUDGET THAT INCLUDES SPENDING CUTS FOR SOME CITY SERVICES AS THE CITY IS FACING A $7-BILLION DOLLAR BUDGET GAP DUE TO THE MIGRANT CRISIS.

“BUT WE DO NEED ALBANY TO PLAY A ROLE BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, WE NEED OUR NATIONAL GOVERNMENT TO TREAT THIS NATIONAL CRISIS AS IT DESERVES.”
LAST WEEK – MAYOR ADAMS ANNOUNCED RESTORATIONS TO SOME CITY PROGRAMS – LIKE THE NYPD, NYFD, AND AFTER-SCHOOL SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS – WHICH HE HAD MADE CUTS TO BACK IN NOVEMBER.
THIS – WHEN HE HAD ASKED EVERY CITY DEPARTMENT – INCLUDING THE NEW YORK FIRE DEPARTMENT AND NEW YORK POLICE DEPARTMENT – TO IMPOSE 5-PERCENT BUDGET CUTS WITHOUT SACRIFICING SERVICES.
THE BUDGET CUTS ALSO FORCED THE CLOSURE OF NEW YORK PUBLIC LIBRARIES ON SUNDAYS – TO HELP SAVE SOME MONEY.
