President Biden, Prime Minister Trudeau, President López Obrador meet at North American Leaders Summit
FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 20-16…THE U-S PRESIDENT WILL HOST THE NORTH AMERICAN LEADERS’ SUMMIT.. INVITING CANADIAN PRIME MINISTER JUSTIN TRUDEAU AND MEXICAN PRESIDENT ANDRÉS MANUEL LÓPEZ OBRADO TO THE WHITE HOUSE
PRESIDENT BIDEN HAS TALKED TO BOTH INDIVIDUALLY.. BUT THIS WILL BE THE FIRST TIME SINCE BEFORE PRESIDENT TRUMP TOOK OFFICE THE THREE WILL MEET FOR THE SUMMIT.
TRUDEAU SPOKE TO THE WILSON CENTER ABOUT SOME OF WHAT HE HOPES TO ADDRESS DURING HIS AMERICAN TRIP.
Justin Trudeau, Canadian Prime Minister: ”As we look at the challenges we’re facing in the future, as we look to the challenges we’re facing right now, three things came to mind. Ending covid, building strong resilient economies, fighting climate change.”
THIS MEETING COMES JUST OFF THE BACK OF THE U-N’S CLIMATE CONFERENCE, AND WHILE CANADA IS FACING DEADLY FLOODING IN BRITISH COLUMBIA, IT’S A CHANCE FOR THE NORTH AMERICAN COUNTRIES TO COME TOGETHER IN SOLIDARITY AGAINST RISING COMPETITION FROM EUROPE AND ASIA.
TRADE AND SUPPLY CHAIN WILL BE A MAJOR FOCUS OF THEIR TALKS…
ANOTHER ISSUE… VACCINES.
THE UNITED STATES LOANED BOTH COUNTRIES MILLIONS OF DOSES OF COVID VACCINES.
ITS EXPECTED THAT CANADA AND MEXICO WILL ANNOUNCE THEY ARE DONATING THOSE TO POORER COUNTRIES.
AND OF COURSE- IMMIGRATION AND MIGRATION WILL BE A MAJOR TOPIC… THE UNITED STATES RECENTLY LIFTING SOME COVID-RELATED TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS.
